Our group welcomes enquirers who are interested in volunteering to support our group in its activities. Please contact Liz at firstname.lastname@example.org for general volunteering enquiries. Please contact Rachael Harrison at email@example.com for all Chatterbox volunteer related enquiries.
We currently have a specific need for volunteers detailed below:
Admin support/Newsletter editor
Our group would welcome voluntary support for our newsletter compilation and general group admin. Anyone with experience of admin, PR or general office based IT proficiency with knowledge of social media would be particularly welcomed. The role would suit someone able to work from home.
Our Chatterbox Speech and language groups have a number of volunteering opportunities including specialized training.
Youth group workers
To support older children with DS in a new Speech & Language Youth Club. Suitable for someone with a few hours to spare. The commitment would be approx 3 hours per fortnight. This would particularly suit people with youth work, teaching, teaching assistant or therapy backgrounds.
Our school groups take place on a Friday morning in Poppleton, near York. We need help to transport our children and their accompanying Teaching assistants to the group from other schools across York. We pay mileage costs and other relevant expenses such as any required additional insurance fees. If you have an hour or two to spare on a Friday morning and would like to know more please get in touch.
Chatterbox training opportunity
The Chatterbox team are delighted to announce that an opportunity has arisen for a volunteer to be trained with the SYMBOL Co-worker network. This will enable the successful applicant to assist the Chatterbox team in delivering speech & Language groups to children with DS in the York area. Please see the link below for course dates, details etc.
We would like to invite volunteers to register their interest by contacting our Chatterbox co-ordinator on firstname.lastname@example.org .
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an enthusiastic, skilled and well-supported team, making a valuable contribution to the Speech & language development of children.
(Trainees should be able to commit for a minimum of 2 years.)
